After many years of 'lurking' on this website and downloading and using sounds for my projects, i am happy to hopefully contribute something useful to this site. I am not a professional audio tech or anything related, but i do own a zoom h5 recorder and had to make some recordings for one of my multimedia projects. This recording was made at the harbour of scheveningen, the netherlands on february 7th around 22. 00 pm.

A rather lengthy sound byte that i heavily edited to the point of being unrecognizable. It sustains a flat note with varying bass levels causing an unnerving effect or the listener or player. I had designed this track for a roleplay plot involving a cursed train station, the plot came out kinda rough and it fell through midway. . . But, the audio track i made came out good enough to post here like my first sound involving my transformers oc!. This jump scare sound was created by playing 2 dissonant chords on a single coil telecaster mic'd up w/ a vox ac 10 amp. The two guitar tracks are panned left and right- reverb and delay are added. Additionally, frequency enhancers were added between 4khz - 6khz which adds a higher tonal energy in the upper range of the guitar. Gain is added which can be heard as signal noise mostly at the end of the clip. Enjoy. Bainmack.

Featured in the game 'noclip vr'!! thank you so so much, reality games online!. This is heavily inspired by the urban myth and/or creepypasta called the backrooms, which have a very distinct atmosphere to them. This is my interpretation. However, this isn't exclusively for backrooms-related stuff! so by all means, if you're simply in need of some interior ambience of any sort, that's also why i made this for you. No advanced processing was used to achieve this sound. I recorded an electrical box in my garage for the buzzing. For the 2nd layer, i turned on some fans in my room, and made a long mono recording of the white-noise. I then split the recording in half, and used each half for the left and right channel, giving it a stereo sound. I then spent an hour leveling all of it because i'm a perfectionist. Yay. A second attempt at recording the deep mud i keep finding myself walking through each morning on walthamstow marshes. This recording was made using a sound devices mixpre6ii and a stereo pair of fel em172 mics (connected to a bent wire clothes hanger and positioned about 30cm above my feet). Processing: normalize -1. 0db, low cut filter 100hz, minor noise reduction to reduce background traffic/train noise. I do not require any credit or attribution. A sound i made in audacity, basicly a chirp going down from about 500 hz to 20 hz (with a fade-out to limit subwoofer use)and added some ambience by using white noise rumble on the background, also added a slight wah-wah as you might notice. Here, i tried to represent the rain with a thunderstorm in the background, a sound that can be used in a thriller, drama or other movies. To the sound of the rain i generated "white noise", amplitude to 1. Then, i changed the acute and bass across the track to show some instability of the rain. To highlight the suddenness of the rain, i put a fade in during the first 5 seconds with a reverberation from 6 to 50s to make a natural sound. Finally, i added a track recorded of a storm with -9db for the storm and + 11db for the rain.

(edit of other recording, with eq, reverb etc. ) recorded inside of an abandoned building next to a boarded-up, old wooden exit door. Has a nice, subtle low hum, which is actually from a plane flying overhead. Also contains knocking sounds, which is most likely the door being a bit loose. Would be awesome for horror atmospheres. Lyrebird is a ground dwelling bird that lives in the australian bush and is very clever at mimicking sounds. This particular bird happens to sound like a science fiction movie! i removed much of the background noise, and lightly processed it with a phase effect. At the end i pitched certain sounds down for a more alien, dinosaur sound. The original sound was recorded on a smart phone.

The recording starts with gentle rain and slow thunder rolling across the sky. The thunder is predominantly in the first half of the recording. The rain increases in intensity in the second half, peaking about three-quarters of the way through. This is the result of my big work with some samples from freesound and some samples that i made by myself. They were mixed all together and edited using lots of vst effects and software, reversed many times and mixed again, sampled in lo-fi quality and then again and again. . An artistic experiment searching for sound emissions and the limit of human hearing. Composed of infrasonic material that have a lot of harmonic distortion. Humans will be able to identify tones as low as 12hz. From 1000 hz the auditory system decreases. Natural and human produced infrasonic sounds is anywhere, all the time. The artistic idea was to use background noises, signal fidelity, harmonic distortion, low-frequency in order to foster a soundscape of infrasound that travels through space. I was looking for the sound of a hot engine clicking and found just one with lots of background noises. So i decided to build it from scratch in bitwig studio and this is it. The sound starts with fast clicking slowing down. It's not perfect, you can still hear it's made from samples. But as the sound is normally used at low volume, i think i can get away with it. Feel free to add a gate and shape it even further. I may upload an updated version later.

Night-time wide angle stereo recording of manhattan, as heard from across the east river, the recorder was kindly allowed access to the veranda of the riverview restaurant & lounge in long island city and is facing the manhattan skyline. Some noises of the restaurant can be heard in the background, very subdued, the quiet lapping of the east river can be heard in the foreground, and manhattan bustle and traffic on the fdr drive is in the wide range. A pair of owls stationed themselves outside my half-basement bedroom window in colorado early this morning around 12am. Unfortunately i only had my phone to capture them with, but it still turned out alright, save for the periodic vox-like breaks when silencing background noise. The hoot is obvious as to the source, but i'm unsure about the screech/cry that occurs with equal frequency. Is it the response of a mate? or just the yip of a curious neighbor dog?. Recorded at cardiff central railway station, south wales, uk, 27 october 2007. Background station noises are also recorded, “western champion” is heard with the maybachs idling whilst the locomotive is at rest. The change in engine pitch is when “western champion” accelerates away from the station pulling a train of eight coaches. The new hope & ivyland railroad is located in new hope, pennsylvania, usa. Basically, it's a tourist railroad that gives visitors the experience of riding in an old fashioned train. You take a short trip out (too short in my opinion) and a short trip back to the station. Since i wanted clean sound, my wife decided to surprise me by paying for the private seats on the very back (outside) of the train. Think of old pictures of presidents waving from the rear of a moving train. . . That place!. So, with zoomh4n pro in hand, i recorded the entire trip from station to station. There's lots of good, old fashioned, clickity-clackity track in this one. A rarity these days as most tracks are now put down with out breaks for miles at a time. Enjoy!. Christopher.

This is about 2 minutes total. It is of an approaching long freight train passing about 100 yards away in it's entirety. Train was doing around 45 mph. There are no other background sounds, no traffic, no crossing alarms, no street noise, no airplanes, no people, etc. There are three diesel electric locomotives in the front, then about a mile of freight cars, then one diesel electric locomotive "pushing" from the rear (it almost sounds like a jet engine!). Recorded alongside the tracks in open west texas desert! recorded using a panasonic dvx200 with a rode shotgun mic & deadcat. Audio extracted from the video file.

Shell casings being dropped onto a tiled floor. I got some shell casings from a local shooting range and recorded the sound of various sized casings bouncing on a tiled floor. I used a usb condenser mic (samson co1u pro) with audacity. The section of floor i dropped the shells onto was surrounded by acoustic panels to dampen the echos. A couple times the casing bounced into the mic stand, but i've left them in because they're still useful. There was some background noise caused by my computer which i removed with audacity.

This station has two tracks, one running in either direction. Generally, when you hear an announcement, you hear mandarin first (woman's voice), cantonese next (slightly different woman's voice), then english in a man's voice. This is line 1 in downtown shenzhen. Interestingly, the next train going in the same direction of the one i got off, arrives within the time of this recording, about 1. 5 minutes later.
